McCann Manchester apprentices graduate to permanent roles

Four apprentices at marketing communications agency McCann Manchester have secured permanent roles working at the agency, two months before the completion their apprenticeships.

These appointments follow the 2011/2012 scheme which saw all four apprentices secure full time employment within the agency.

The other two apprentices in the 2012/2013 intake are in the process of deciding on their first career move in marketing.

The appointments come as the agency starts advertising for its third intake of apprentices to the scheme which is believed to be the first of its type in the country to offer an apprenticeship in integrated marketing communications.

The McCann Manchester scheme continues to operate in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) and nearby East Cheshire Business School at Macclesfield College to offer a 12 month Advanced Apprenticeship programme aimed at 16 to 24 year olds hoping to break into the marketing communications industry.

The training gives each apprentice a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship including an NVQ in Marketing and the CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing.

McCann Manchester’s talent and development director, Darren Minshall said: “To have found permanent roles for four out of six of our current intake two months before the scheme concludes is testimony to the talents and skills of our apprentices and on behalf of the entire management team I’d like to congratulate them on their success.

“The competition to join the scheme was incredibly fierce and we believe it is going to get even tougher this year as the success of our scheme spreads among people looking to embark on a career in marketing communications.”
