LinkedIn is the first professional network to be teamed with Microsoft’s new Outlook with the functionality becoming available in early 2010.
Microsoft is currently previewing its Outlook Social Connector which will be part of the latest Outlook programme. It is designed to bring business and social networking feeds directly to your inbox.
Microsoft will integrate LinkedIn into public tests of the new programme. The partnership will allow users to maintain LinkedIn connections from their inbox; continue to build their professional networks from Outlook; and email LinkedIn connections via the platform.
Elliot Schmukler, director, product management at LinkedIn says, “Our big belief is that you can be much more effective if you have your professional network close at hand, and you can leverage your online identity in the work you do on a daily basis.”
