Microsoft has signed a deal to sponsor business social networking site Business-Scene.com and its networking events throughout the UK, in a bid to drive adoption of the brand’s technology amongst small and medium-sized businesses.
The sponsorship includes coverage for Microsoft at networking events and online, with branding appearing both on the website and promotional materials such as emails, signage, fliers and presence at the events.
“Microsoft is keen to work with a broad array of business communities across the UK,” says Robert Epstein, head of small business, Microsoft UK. “We are already working with the very established institutions such as the IOD and the Chambers of Commerce, however, we are also looking to work with the new wave of more recently established business community organisations that put a greater emphasis on communication through the web, yet still believe in the value of face-to-face interaction through events.”
Microsoft joins Blackberry as national and regional sponsor of Business Scene, along with partners including the Telegraph Business Club and Business Matters Magazine.
Their sponsorship will launch at Business Scene’s upcoming event on November 17 and London’s Hilton Metropole.
Benefits to the technology brand include the ability to come face-to-face with SMEs at the networking events, says Warren Cass, founder of Business Scene. For the social networking site, it’s a logical partnership, he adds, as Microsoft’s positioning is in line with Business Scene’s objectives to help SMEs to raise their business’s profile.
“We have found that businesses are looking for more creative and cost-effective ways of reaching their target audiences. By supporting our online community and networking events, sponsors have direct access to a large and growing number of small and medium-sized businesses, with the opportunity to reach them online and face-to-face,” says Cass.
