Microsoft knocks Google from B2B top spot

Microsoft has knocked Google off the top spot as B2B superbrand 2010 according to a survey compiled by The Centre for Brand Analysis (TCBA). It suggests Google doesn’t value the importance of developing and maintaining a brand.

The Search giant has dropped to fifth in the annual Business Superbrands Top 500 survey. Blackberry is still ahead of Apple in the business market, jumping from 42nd place last year to third in 2010, whilst Apple dropped seven places from 11th to 18th.

Telecoms have done well with both BT and Vodafone increasing their status. British Airways has managed to climb from its worst position of 36th to number eight despite problems with staff strikes.

Insurer Aviva show its rebrand worked as it was this year’s second highest climber moving from 315th to 144th. The biggest year-on-year rise was by Premier Inn who jumped 197 places to sit 240th.

The list was combined by an expert council and 1700 business professionals from across the UK. Visit the Superbrand website for this year’s full list.
