Mint takes fresh approach to global company data

Bureau van Dijk Electronic Publishing (BvDEP) has launched a new business portal under the Mint brand, offering marketers access to a database of 20 million companies around the world.

The new portal is called Mint Global, and also incorporates links to business news stories from a variety of sources – including the FT – and sophisticated search functionality, providing access to detailed company information.

Mint Global is an enhancement of the BvDEP’s existing Orbis system, and it complements country-specific versions that are available for the UK, Spain and The Netherlands. BvDEP claims the system enables access to three million UK-based private companies, or 99.5 per cent of the market.

Tony Pringle, MD of BvDEP UK and Ireland, claims the portal serves a genuine business need. “Users can substantiate the information they have on a company, even if their knowledge is scant. They can also find companies in specific sectors and countries to form the basis of further research, and help establish the viability of business opportunities. Mint products are specifically designed to provide end-user, desktop access to an abundance of information on companies and sectors, in an easy-to-use format, to give strategic business advantage.”
