New chair for DMA

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) has selected Scott Logie as its new chairman.

The trade association chose Logie to succeed David Metcalfe, head of wholesale banking at Lloyds TSB, who will step down in January 2011 after a two year tenure.

Logie is a marketing veteran of over 20 years and has held positions in the Bank of Scotland, CACI Ltd and BAE Systems.

DMA also named Malcolm Green, a former board member and head of sales, compliance and ethics at YELL, as deputy chairman.

Logie stressed the importance of paying equal attention to traditional and digital media in direct marketing. He said, “As the significance of direct marketing continues to grow, it’s more important than ever that our work is at the heart of business.”

Elsewhere, communications agency Cognition has hired seven new members following a boost in new business. The company has hired senior managers to work across its PR, marketing and digital departments. Adam Segura, who has 19 years of marketing experience, has been appointed commercial director of Cognition’s new business department.
