The number of doctors completing online education courses has rapidly increased in recent months, according to Doctors.net.uk.
During the second quarter of this year, there was a 31 per cent rise in the number of unique users who finished online education modules via Doctors.net.uk compared to the same period in 2012.
A total of 22,275 Doctors.net.uk online education modules have been completed in the past quarter.
Online quizzes have proved to be a particularly popular type of module with a total of 2,168 unique users completing them in June this year compared to 967 in June 2012 – an increase of 124 per cent.
Dr Tim Ringrose, CEO of Doctors.net.uk, said: “Our data shows that more and more doctors are discovering the value of online education, which enables them to complete their CPD at a time and pace that suits them.
“Evidence suggests that it has a strong influence on their working practices; 60 per cent of GPs said that they have changed their practice as a result of taking these online courses. That means doctors are better informed to deliver better healthcare and to ensure our limited NHS resources are used to best effect.”
