People fight back against cold calls

Businessman Richard Herman has launched a website advising people to invoice ‘cold callers’ for time wasting.

After receiving several calls about PPI claims, and after asking the firm to stop calling, Herman told the company he would invoice them £10 for every minute of his time they used. He continued to receive calls so invoiced them for £195.

PPI Claimline and its marketing company AAC denied making the calls but Herman had recorded them so took the company to small claims court for the unpaid invoice plus £25 in costs. The company settled the debt out of court.

Herman, who owns call recording company Retell Recorders, has now set up a website to help other people who are being bothered by cold callers – www.saynotocoldcalls.com.
