Tech company Sage has promoted Ron McMurtrie to CMO.
Ron originally joined the company in 2016 as executive vice president of customer marketing, where he oversaw the integration of accounting cloud solution Sage Intaact following the acquisition of Intaact in 2017, and launched several customer marketing initiatives. As CMO, Ron will now build on these to attain new customers and drive customer loyalty. He will oversee all marketing activities across the 23 markets Sage operates in.
Ron has 20 years experience in leading global marketing strategies at companies including as CMO at Recall and TEXbase, and at VCE and First Data. He was also interiming the CMO role at Sage for several months before his appointment.
He said: “Marketing at Sage is about much more than taking products to customers. For us, it is about championing businesses – from start-up to enterprise, about future-proofing them and about supporting them with advice and connections that allow them to thrive. It is an honour to lead those efforts, and this fantastic team.”
Ron’s appointment marks Sage’s expansion in the US market and he will join the leadership team at the company’s North American HQ in Atlanta, where he will report to CEO Stephen Kelly.
Sage won Best use of digital techniques and technologies for its marketing campaign ‘The big HR and payroll quiz’ at the 2017 B2B Marketing Awards. The Sage category campaign team was named Marketing team of the year at last year’s B2B Marketing People Awards.
