The Data Protection Network has launched an award for a marketing team or individual’s privacy project, in memory of its co-founder Rosemary Smith.
The award was inspired by Rosemary’s contributions as she often referred to ‘responsible marketing’ in her advice. The prize will be judged on the principle of ‘privacy by design’ as well as customers’ satisfaction and the project’s overall impact.
The contest is free to enter and the winners will receive £1000 and a trophy. The closing date for entries is 6 December, and the judging will take place 6 January, with a shortlist being announced after. Those interested in entering can find more information by clicking here.
Rosemary and Jenny had co-founded the data protection consultancy Opt-4 in 2004 and went on to create the DPN in 2014. Together, they created features, guides and analysis content to geared towards data protection practitioners. She died in April 2019.
DPN co-founder Jenny Moseley said: “I’m delighted that we are able to commemorate Rosemary’s significant achievements in the fields of marketing and data privacy with the launch of this award. It is most appropriate that we are looking to recognise responsible marketing initiatives – something that Rosemary was passionate about. I’d like to encourage every marketing or data privacy team to enter.”
