Samsung has announced that it has successfully developed a new 5G technology. The tech would work at the core of 5G mobile communications system, and could provide data transmission up to several hundred times faster than current 4G networks.
The mobile giant has suggested the tech would eventually allow users to stream ultra-high-definition video while on the move.
Further discussions concerning 5G will take place at the UN’s World Radiocommunication Conference in 2015.
Chang Yeong Kim, executive vice president of Samsung, said: “The millimetre-wave band is the most effective solution to recent surges in wireless internet usage. Samsung’s recent success in developing the adaptive array transceiver technology has brought us one step closer to the commercialization of 5G mobile communications in the millimetre-wave bands.”
