Security top concern for CIOs

Protecting their organisations from cyber-security threats is the primary challenge for CIOs in 2014, a study of CIOs and their peers has revealed.

The findings from the CSC CIO Barometer Report 2013 highlighted online security is at the top of their agenda, with 78 per cent of respondents saying it is their highest priority. Security was also named as the third most costly item on CIO’s budgets in 2013.

The increasing usage of cloud computing, mobility and social media has increased the need for stronger security, with 71 per cent of CIOs viewing security as the most significant development, above cloud computing (69 per cent).
