Food and facilities management company Sodexo has announced a five figure sports sponsorship deal to help leverage its status as a school meals provider.
The company, which provides meals in around 1000 British and Irish schools, is sponsoring teen diving sensation Tom Daley in the hope that he will help promote healthy eating among school children.
In the coming months, Daley will spearhead a campaign across secondary schools where Sodexo provides meals, to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
The sponsorship deal will also place the Sodexo brand at this summer’s Olympic Games in Beijing, in which Daley will represent Great Britain in the individual 10m platform dive competition.
Phil Hooper, corporate affairs director, Sodexo, says, “We’re very proud to be sponsoring Tom. At Sodexo, we are committed to promoting health and well-being and we believe that our link with Tom will help us to encourage children to think about what they eat and the lifestyle that they adopt.”
Adds Daley, “I am really pleased for the support Sodexo is giving me and look forward to working with them. Beijing is my focus at the moment and this deal means that I can concentrate on preparing well for the Olympics to give me the best chance of doing well.
“Sodexo is really behind healthy eating which is something I am passionate about as it helps me to perform at my best.”
