Spiceworks launches social sharing tools

Spiceworks, the social business network for IT professionals, has launched its new social sharing initiative Spiceworks Connect.

The announcement was made yesterday at the Spiceworld 2011 user conference to introduce the new tool that allows IT workers, technology brands and publishers to connect and share information from around the Internet.

The key features of Spiceworks Connect include:

  • Follow: IT pros can follow technology brands or media sites they are interested in to receive news, updates and popular discussion alerts directly in Spiceworks.
  • Share: This function allows users to instantly share online content in Spiceworks via buttons on websites of IT vendors and media properties on the Internet.
  • Login: Due soon, this will allow users to login to Spiceworks Connect partner sites with their Spiceworks account credentials.

Scott Abel, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks, commented, “Our goal is to provide better ways for Spiceworks IT pros to more easily share and connect with the information, companies and people they rely on to do their jobs faster and more efficiently.”

Spiceworks also announced at the conference that their user base has grown to 1.7 million users. They also revealed that IT professionals racked up 350 million minutes in Spiceworks last month.
