A recent outdoor advertising campaign promoting Somerset to London businesses has seen online visitors from London to the intosomerset.co.uk website increase by 98 per cent.

The poster campaign encouraged stressed commuters to escape the rat race by moving to Somerset ‘where life is better by a country mile’.

The campaign ran from 20 September at a number of key commuter stations in and around the capital, including London Waterloo, London Victoria, Clapham Junction, Guildford and Reading.

The number of visits from search engines increased slightly during the campaign, but the proportion of direct traffic was greatest with a 104 per cent uplift compared with the two weeks before.

Visits to the site peaked on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of week one of the campaign and Tuesday of week two while activity over the weekend was as normal, suggesting that the target audience of commuters was successfully reached.

Membership of the Into Somerset LinkedIn group grow by 47% during the campaign period.

Into Somerset acting chief executive Rupert Cox says, “In addition to a large increase in website and social media activity, we’ve received a number of new direct enquiries following the campaign and hope to see some positive results for Somerset in the coming year.”
