The Government launches IT ‘app store’

The Government has launched a cloud based app store designed to help SMEs offer IT requirements to the public sector.

The service is called CloudStore and acts as an online catalogue detailing a list of 1700 suppliers and their services. The services on offer include Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and specialist services such as configuration, management and monitoring.

The CloudStore is part of the Governements wider campaign, G-Cloud – a programme for the public sector to be able to procure a number of cloud-based products. Find out more about G-Cloud.

Suraj Kika chief executive of Jadu, a company involved in the scheme, said, “Cloudstore represents a revolution in how the public sector buys software and services.

“This bold move has potential to showcase the UK as a global leader in online service delivery, providing the procurement culture in government evolves to take advantage.”
