The Purple Agency has welcomed local students from Basingstoke College of Technology to the agency for a creative workshop to promote the exciting career prospects in the industry.
The half-day workshop asked 19 BTEC Level 2 Art and Design students to share their expertise and knowledge of the industry. Plus, Alan Docherty, creative director at The Purple Agency, offered insight into the type of work Purple undertakes and outlined how to design a creative marketing campaign.
Plus, the agency held a poster designing competition where students had the opportunity to design their own poster advertising Basingstoke to visitors, with the winner rewarded with a week’s work experience at the agency.
Docherty said: “It was a joy to invite the BCoT Level 2 BTEC Art & Design students into Purple for a Creative Workshop and poster creation competition. They responded, with creativity and raw enthusiasm. It was a great session, and if this is a sample of the creatives of the future, the UK industry will be more than well-served.”
Meanwhile, Natalie Jameson, programme manager for art & design at BCoT, commented on the day: “This opportunity was brilliant for the Level 2 Art & Design students, as it provided them with an insight into creative jobs in this industry and provided them with something to aspire to. All learners were engaged in the activities which helped them understand the importance of design work and working to deadlines, which is a key employability skill.”
