The top five skills needed to be a creative in the future have been revealed following a survey of 200 creatives by OLIVER.
Coding took the top spot with 10% of the vote, while augmented reality (9%), trend identification (9%), public speaking (8%) and user experience (8%) followed respectively.
Overall the top five took 44% of the vote. The other 56% of the vote was spread across multiple skillsets which differed between sectors.
Those working in finance prioritised trend identification and public speaking.
Similarly, those in media also valued trend identification but felt writing and Adobe Suite skills were also among the strongest skills needed for the future.
A third of automotive creatives cited writing as the most important skill too.
Frederico Roberto, EMEA senior creative director at OLIVER said: “This research needed to be done. We always hear from the c-suite when it comes to the next generation of creatives, but I always thought it made more sense to ask the current crop. Who do they want to see stepping into their shoes? It’s a fascinating peek behind the curtain, and affirmation for those currently on course to join the ranks in the years to come.”
