Twitter announces private tweet functionality

Twitter is allowing users to share tweets privately, using Direct Messages (DMs).

To share a Tweet via DM users just need to select the ‘…’ icon underneath the tweet, a box will then appear with the option to ‘Share via Direct Message’.

The social network believes the new update will make it easier for users to have private conversations about trending topics.

Sachin Agarwal, product manager at Twitter, said in a blog post: ‘Twitter is already a great place for public conversation; now it’s also easier to privately discuss things you care about.’
