Twitter has launched custom timelines, giving users more control over how tweets are organised.
Available on TweetDeck, the new tool will allow the platform’s users to create their own feeds around specific subjects, events or groups of users. Custom timelines can either be created by hand or using API.
Every timeline is public and will have its own page Twitter’s website, in order to make them easier to share.
The tool will be a direct competitor to well-know storytelling tool, Storify.
Brian Ellin, product manager a Twitter, said in a blog post: ‘Share the best tweets about a topic you care about, or an event –– planned or unplanned –– that’s happening right now. Whether you want to collect the best Tweets about a TV show or help people find the latest information about fast-moving real-time situations, custom timelines let you give everyone a place to follow along.
