Twitter launches ‘retweet with comment’ feature

Twitter has officially launched a built-in ‘retweet with comment’ feature, which allows users to add commentary to an existing tweet.

It is used the same way as a normal retweet: by clicking on the ‘retweet button’ but then selecting ‘quote retweet’ instead of ‘retweet’.  The tweet will become smaller and you will be able to add 116 characters of text since the quoted tweet still takes up some space.

With the feature Twitter hopes to reduce the amount of posts that get retweeted without giving credit to the original poster.

‘Retweet with comment’ can only quote one layer of tweets. Users will have to click through to a post of a tweet with a tweet in it to see the original post.
