Twitter targets non-users with ‘See what’s happening’ advertising campaign

Twitter has launched a new advertising campaign to inform ‘non-users’ of its offerings.

The initiative, called ‘See what’s happening’, has been designed to demonstrate what can happen and be achieved on the platform.

In a blog post, the social network claimed 90 per cent of people around the world recognise Twitter as a brand, but that many don’t truly understand what the channel is all about. It added that most of its users see Twitter as a network to connect with family and friends, rather than a source of breaking news, entertainment and politics.

Leslie Berland, CMO at Twitter, said: “Starting today, we’re taking steps to express what we’re for and what we’ve always been. Twitter is where you go to see what’s happening everywhere in the world right now.

“From breaking news and entertainment to sports and politics – from big events to everyday interests with all the live commentary that makes Twitter unique.”

As part of the campaign, Twitter also announced it will be introducing a new look and feel to its marketing strategy, which aims to highlight diversity and expressiveness across the globe.
