Twitter is expected to make some changes to its offering that may see it become similar to Facebook. Speaking at the Citi Global Technology Conference in New York, Twitter’s financial chief, Anthony Noto, said organising the timeline in reverse chronological order: “isn’t the most relevant experience for a user,” according to a Wall Street Journal report.
It is thought the social network will separate ‘interesting’ tweets from timely tweets in order to ensure users see them despite the fact they may not be the most recent tweet on their timeline.
Twitter has already begun tweaking content that appears in the timeline, it amended its support document to say: ‘When we identify a tweet, an account to follow, or other content that’s popular or relevant, we may add it to your timeline. This means you will sometimes see tweets from accounts you don’t follow.’
