Two-thirds of marketers looking to switch jobs

Almost two-thirds (62 per cent) of B2B marketers admit they will look for a new job in the next 12 months, according to B2B Marketing’s first ever Salary Survey.

The research revealed that, on average, most marketers make a move every three years, with the lure of more pay or better benefits the most cited motivation.

Other reasons include lack of opportunities for career progression, poor management and a stifling company culture.

Unsurprisingly, board members are the most likely to stay in their job long-term, while marketers with less than three years’ experience are most likely to move frequently, hinting at a disparity in job satisfaction between senior and junior staff.

Alex Clarke, digital content manager at B2B Marketing, said: “Although this statistic may initially look bleak, it’s perfectly natural in any profession to actively be on the lookout for other opportunities.

“However, as discussed above, employers can certainly inspire greater loyalty and longevity among their workforce by offering more opportunities for career progression and improving the company culture.”

B2B Marketing’s Salary Survey 2016-17 is a groundbreaking piece of research, placing B2B marketing salaries under the spotlight. The report, produced in partnership with B2B market research specialist Circle Research, compares salaries according to job role, gender and industry, and examines the B2B job market. The report is available for free to premium members, and can be purchased by non-members.
