Viadeo, the second largest professional networking site behind LinkedIn, is expected to follow LinkedIn and Facebook and float in around two years.
Speaking at the Reuters Global Media and Technology Summit in Paris, Viadeo’s strategy chief, Olivier Fecherolle, said the technical and pricing issues around Facebook’s IPO would not put them off.
He said, “I think the fact that LinkedIn’s valuation held up after the Facebook IPO is a sign that investors can tell the difference between these companies. Professional social networks are well valued because it’s a more classical business and demand is more stable.”
While LinkedIn is a favourite for UK professionals, Viadeo’s users come mainly from Europe and China.
