Where is Marketing Automation in Today’s Curriculum

Most universities today are churning out Marketing BA’s who are skilled in the ways of marketing the way it looked 10 years ago. I asked one of my friends who graduated with a degree in Marketing if she knew what Marketing Automation was when she graduated. Her response?

“I remember reading a paragraph about it at some point, but that was about it. Everything I know about marketing automation now is what I had to learn off the cuff at my first job.”

Why is such a critical component of marketing v.2.0 missing from most collegiate lexicon? I sat down with some of today’s leading experts in marketing automation and demand generation and discussed the skills that most grads are missing, as well as some suggestions for colleges and universities looking to keep up with the times.
