I have been living in London for a little over three months now. I came here for an editorial internship thinking I would learn a lot about B2B marketing and writing, but I’ll leave with a lot more.
B2B, it’s as easy as one, two, three. Or at least that’s what I thought before I started my internship here. Looking back, I can say it was a very interesting experience and I learnt a lot. Where my head felt like it could explode in the beginning, I now feel much more confident when I read something about B2B.
What surprised me is that I feel like I learnt even more because I’m from another country. There is a lot you can learn from working abroad.
For starters it is a great way to learn a language. Being here has helped me improve my English a lot. Even visiting a country where they speak the language you are trying to learn can help. You’d be surprised how quickly you pick up a new language once you are surrounded by it.
Seeing and experiencing different cultures will give you a lot of ideas. It’s very refreshing to see how people go about situations differently in every country. Even visiting a supermarket here is exiting; so many new products and the polite queues at the cashier are something I’ll definitely miss.
You learn to think out of the box and react to unusual situations. You’ll also learn a lot of new skills as people do things differently everywhere. Needless to say I picked up a lot of writing skills but it didn’t stop there. I’ll value my new skills and confidence even more when I’m back in Belgium. This is an experience I’m going to treasure for the rest of my life and I can recommend it to everyone.
