Yahoo’s news and community services have closed in China as the company adjusts its operations strategy. This follows the closure of its email service last month.
The purple internet giant’s home page now redirects users a web page hosted by B2B online retailer Alibaba, the company which manages Yahoo’s activity in China.
The search engine holds a stake in Alibaba, and it has been report that Yahoo staff will transfer to work on Alibaba websites and content.
The company faces big competition in the Chinese market.
Social media services such as the Twitter-like platform offered by Weibo are hugely popular in China despite being openly censored.
