National business advisory service uses Citrix GoToWebinar to support small enterprises
Marketing manager Chloé Titcomb has worked at the British Library for three years, during which time she has made it her mission to raise awareness of the support available to small businesses.
“We wanted to introduce new ways of engaging with users and to promote our services,” she said. “Using webinars was a great way to do this, as they can be accessed remotely and allow users unable to physically visit our centre to take advantage of our offering.”
Solution
After having tested several other solutions, the British Library trialled GoToWebinar during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012, holding seven events in just five days. “We wanted to use the British Library branding so that users would recognise them as our sessions,” said Titcomb. Another key criteria was the recording capability. “Last but not least, we needed the technology to be straightforward to set up and easy to use.”
The British Library team went on to use GoToWebinar throughout the year for regular webinars, with “each session made a real difference in helping us to meet our objectives,” according to Titcomb, “both in terms of ease-of-use and overall audience participation and engagement.”
Benefits
• The successful roll-out of webinars has opened the door to entrepreneurs and business owners who were previously unable to visit the Centre – even participants from other countries suchas Italy and Brazil now take advantage of the service.
• Each time a prospective candidate registers for a webinar, theyare offered the chance to receive the British Library’s regular newsletter, which has boosted subscription levels to other freeand charged events.
• The integrated survey and chat capability boosted user engagement, resulting in more participants’ questions being answered.
• In all, the organisation has far exceeded the target number of new participants and contacts it has engaged with, making the webinar programme a true success.
