Description:

A practical, hands on course designed for B2B marketers who want to build commercial confidence and strengthen their financial understanding. The focus is on helping you influence strategic decisions and make a clear impact on the bottom line. You will explore how your work contributes to profit, not just pipeline, and learn how to connect marketing activity to revenue, margin, and growth. The course also covers how to build credible ROI narratives and communicate your value to the wider business with confidence.

 

The course is highly interactive and built around practical exercises. You will take part in a Profit Levers Deep Dive to examine different areas of marketing and understand how they influence profit and revenue. In Defend the Margin, you will work through a scenario-based exercise that balances quick wins with long-term margin protection. The Vanity to Value KPI Rewrite helps you reshape marketing metrics, so they reflect commercial outcomes, while the ROI Storyboard Lab guides you through building a simple, believable ROI model. You will also practise developing a business case in the Investment Pitch Simulation, followed by the Commercial Rewrite Challenge, where groups turn raw information into leadership-ready communication. The course concludes with time for personal reflection so you can identify how to apply what you have learned in your own role.

Sharon Collins

Propolis Financial Acumen Expert

Sharon is the Financial Acumen Expert for Propolis. She has over 25 years’ experience with PE-backed, publicly listed and privately-owned B2B companies in accountancy, law, consulting, engineering, property and construction and is now an independent consultant.

 

Sharon is passionate about marketing being seen as a strategic business function which delivers a commercial return. Commercially astute with a Certificate in Managerial Finance from the London School of Economics, Sharon combines strategic and hands-on experience with a deep understanding of how marketing and brand impacts a company’s finances, risk profile and reputation. She is a Trustee of the Old Operating Theatre (Lord Brock Trust), where she sits on the Finance Committee, and is a former regional board member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
